The review

Rooms

The hotel tower sits a short walk from the dining outlets and the garage, so the room is never far from anything else on the property. The official room pages describe two everyday categories - two beds or one large bed - and both list memory-foam mattresses, a work desk, a sitting chair and a flat-screen set. Accessible versions of each are offered; if you need a roll-in shower, say so when booking, because the hotel notes that not every bathroom has the same layout.

Above those sit three suite types. Each pairs a private bedroom with a separate living room, a wet bar and a microwave, and the largest adds a powder room for guests and an open dining area. One of the junior suites has its own outdoor patio. For a family or two couples sharing, the suites are the obvious choice; for a one-night stop the standard rooms are plenty.

Facilities on the property

  • Hotel rooms and suites
  • Pool and hot tubs
  • Three restaurants
  • Grand Oak Ballroom for concerts
  • RV park
  • Casino on site
  • General store and mercantile

Pools & spa

Guests have a pool and hot tubs, which the hotel lists with daytime-into-evening hours, along with an exercise room that stays open around the clock. We have not been able to confirm from the official pages whether the pool is enclosed, so if an indoor swim matters in the cooler months, ask the hotel before you book.

There is no full treatment spa described on the current official site - the word refers to the hot tubs. If massages or facials are part of your plan, ask the front desk what is on offer, or book a treatment in one of the nearby foothill towns.

Restaurants & bars

Three restaurants run on site. Lone Wolf Restaurant & Lounge is the dressed-up evening option, with steaks and seafood and a bar alongside. Margaret's Café & Bakery covers breakfast, lunch and pastries, and Pacific Grill handles the easygoing all-day menu. The former buffet has closed permanently, so do not plan around it if you read about it on an older page.

Hours change with the season and with demand, so check the dining page on the day. For a change of scene, the main streets of Jackson and Sutter Creek have independent restaurants and tasting rooms within a short drive. A general store and a mercantile on the property sell snacks, travel basics and gifts.

Shows & entertainment

Concerts and live events take place in the Grand Oak Ballroom inside the hotel. The calendar leans towards tribute acts, comedy and well-known touring names, and dates appear on the official entertainment page a few weeks ahead. Seating plans and ticketing rules differ by show, so check them on the event listing itself.

The resort has told guests it is not offering catering or banquet services at present, which matters if you were hoping to hold a wedding reception here; ask the events team what is possible before you commit. Beyond the property, the Gold Country towns stage summer festivals, small-theatre seasons and harvest weekends at the wineries.

What's nearby

Jackson sits in the heart of Amador County, and the old mining towns are the main reason to stay a few nights. Sutter Creek is a few minutes north, with a long main street of nineteenth-century storefronts, inns and cafés; Amador City, Volcano and Fiddletown are smaller and quieter. In Jackson itself, the Kennedy Gold Mine offers guided walks around its headframe and tailing wheels on many weekends.

Amador wine country, centred on the Shenandoah Valley near Plymouth, is an easy morning's drive and is known for Zinfandel and Rhone-style reds. Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, near Pine Grove, protects a large limestone outcrop worn with bedrock mortars, along with a reconstructed village and a museum on the Miwuk peoples of the Sierra foothills - a fitting visit given who owns this resort.

How to get there

Fly into Sacramento International (SMF), the closest large terminal, and pick up wheels there: most travellers rent one at the terminal and head south-east through the foothills on state highways, a drive of well over an hour in normal traffic. There is no train station in Jackson, and public transport from Sacramento is limited.

Arriving by road is straightforward, and the resort has a large covered garage with accessible spaces on every level, plus a shuttle that loops around the property. If you are bringing a motorhome, the on-site RV park has full-hookup sites; book them separately from the hotel. In winter, roads higher up towards the Sierra crest can need chains, but the drive from the valley usually stays clear - check road reports before you set out.

Practical information

Things worth confirming with the hotel before you pay. We avoid quoting figures that might be out of date.

Practical points to confirm
TopicWhat to confirm
Resort feeThe hotel's own room page says there is no resort fee. Re-check the total at checkout in case anything has changed.
ParkingThe garage is listed as free for guests. Confirm whether that also covers oversized vehicles and trailers.
CancellationRead the cancellation terms on the official site before paying - deadlines can differ for special dates and packages.
Best seasonSpring brings green hills and wildflowers; autumn brings the grape harvest. Midsummer afternoons are hot, so plan outdoor visits early.
Check-in ageAsk the hotel for the minimum age to hold a room and what ID it accepts at the desk.
AccessibilityAccessible rooms and parking are offered and wheelchairs can be borrowed. Describe your needs when booking so the right room is held.

Three independent beds in the county

Should the resort not suit your trip, these independent properties in the same county are worth a look. We have no ownership link with them.

Questions travellers ask

Who publishes this review?

Jackson Band of Miwuk Indians, the owner of Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort. Because the publisher and the owner are the same, this is not an independent review - treat it as the owner's description and check details with the hotel.

Does the hotel charge a resort fee?

The official room page states that it does not. Confirm the final total when you book, as policies can change.

Is the pool indoors?

We could not confirm this from the official pages. If you are visiting in winter and want to swim, ask the hotel directly.

Is there a full-service spa?

The current site lists hot tubs rather than a treatment spa. Ask the front desk about massages or other treatments.

Which airport is closest?

Sacramento International (SMF). Plan on renting a car there, as public transport to Jackson is limited.

Can I bring a motorhome?

Yes. The resort runs an RV park with full-hookup sites on the same property; reserve it separately from hotel rooms.

How does this site make money?

Through affiliate and referral links, and because direct bookings at the resort benefit its owner, which also publishes this site.

Our method

We wrote this page from the resort's official room, dining, events and guest-information pages, read in October 2026, and from public sources on the nearby towns and parks. Where the official pages were silent - the pool enclosure, treatments, check-in age - we say so and suggest you ask. We do not publish guest quotes, invented figures or grades of any kind.

This site contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you follow a link and make a booking/purchase or download, at no extra cost to you. Over and above that, any stay reserved directly with the resort profits Jackson Band of Miwuk Indians, which owns it. See how the links work.
